The jointly published Annual Report and Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2016 also shows that we are on track to deliver each of our three-year priorities.

The report provides an analysis of delivery and performance - in areas such as impact, leadership, finances, communication and environment. For example:

• 98% of auditors’ recommendations were fully accepted for implementation
• £11m of potential savings were identified through audit work
• 100% of audits were delivered in accordance with quality standards, and
• £1.2m of cost savings have been generated throughout the business.

The cost of public audit has fallen by a quarter over the past seven years.

 An ambitious transformation programme is now underway, supported by approved funding from the National Assembly’s Finance Committee. Steps include enhancing impact through better use of new technology, and maximising the effectiveness of data collection, analysis and communication of findings.

The Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas said:

Chair of the Wales Audit Office, Isobel Garner said:
