Wales Audit Office - How safe is your community?
Our communities are important to us and the way they are kept safe affects us all.
We’ve launched a public survey today on community safety that will look at how individuals feel about the places where they live, work and spend their leisure time.
We want to talk to people about how well organisations – like the police service, police and crime commissioner, local authority, voluntary sector and others – work together to identify community safety priorities, coordinate their services and measure their success.
Auditor General for Wales, Huw Vaughan Thomas said yesterday:
'Strong, safe communities are an important aspect of our daily lives, and keeping them safe and secure is in everybody’s interest. We are keen to hear from a wide spectrum of people and I would encourage everyone to have their say so we can form a broad picture of community safety in Wales'
Our study will look at this process to see if it is working in Wales. Who is providing the lead on community safety? Are residents being consulted on their concerns? Are local organisations involved in the process of identifying local issues? Are the right organisations working together to make your area a better place to live?
The survey is open to everyone in Wales and will be running until 30 October. The survey takes no longer than 10 minutes to complete and all responses are anonymous.
