Welsh Government awards £2.1m to Ceredigion to tackle fuel poverty

Natural Resources Minister Carl Sargeant has awarded £2.1m to Ceredigion County Council as part of the Welsh Government’s drive to tackle fuel poverty in low income households.

In total, over £20m has been allocated to 13 local authorities across Wales as part of the Welsh Government Warm Homes Arbed energy performance investment programme.

The programme, which was established in 2009, aims to eradicate fuel poverty and boost economic development and regeneration in Wales.

Not only does the programme tackle fuel poverty for households living in deprived communities and reduce energy bills but it also helps generate jobs and training opportunities for those carrying out the work.

Carl Sargeant said:

“I am pleased that the Welsh Government was able to award £2.1m to Ceredigion part of our drive to tackle fuel poverty.

“We have invested over £20m on energy efficiency improvement works to 13 local authorities across Wales.

“Improving the energy efficiency of low income households is the most direct way in which the Welsh Government can tackle fuel poverty, which will help reduce energy bills and increase disposable income for thousands of households across Wales.”
