Welsh NHS Confederation welcomes new ambulance response time figures

Vanessa Young,  Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation, said:“It’s really good news for patients that the Welsh Ambulance Service has again exceeded the target for responding to immediately life-threatening calls within eight minutes.

“The improvement in performance reflects the commitment and hard work of NHS staff as well as the impact of the new clinical model, introduced last year, which helps the NHS to provide the right level of care at the right time and in the right place.

“The NHS will continue to strive to improve responses times further and we would remind the public of the alternatives that are available to them including the local GP, GP Out of Hours, local pharmacies and Minor Injuries Units.  We also have NHS staff on hand 24 hours a day on NHS Direct to give people advice over the telephone.”
