Alun Cairns: 'Constructive meeting with the Prime Minister and First Minister'

Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns statement following this morning’s meeting with the Prime Minister, Chancellor, Business Secretary and the First Minister of Wales at Downing Street.

Alun Cairns said:

It was a constructive meeting with the Prime Minister and First Minister where we all agreed the importance of doing everything we can to secure a sale for the Port Talbot plant. This built further on previous meetings that the Prime Minister has chaired on steel.

The UK Government has a positive working relationship with the Welsh Government and it is essential that we continue working together to secure a solid future for the plant and end the uncertainty for workers and their families.
