Welsh businesses to explore new export markets

More than 200 companies are expected to take part in today’s major event as part of the Welsh Government’s drive to boost Welsh exports to create economic growth and jobs.

ExploreExport, being held at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff, will be an opportunity for companies to find out about export opportunities and support available through a series of seminars, exhibitions and one-to-one meetings.

Supported by the Welsh Government and UK Trade and Investment and held during Export Week the event is in its second year.

Economy Minister Edwina Hart said:

“The value of exports from Wales has more than doubled since devolution in 1999 and is currently worth an estimated £11bn annually to the Welsh economy. As a pro-business government we are committed to supporting even more Welsh companies trade overseas. ExploreExport is one part of a whole package of measures we us to boost Welsh exports, including free one-to-one advice and a programme of international trade visits. During this financial year alone we have already led 10 overseas trade missions to eight different countries and have a further 11 missions arranged to take place before April 2016. I hope today’s event will help many Welsh companies discover new markets and grow their business.”

This year’s event will attended by a number of Welsh companies that have received support through the Welsh Government to develop new markets overseas or increase their exports.

They include Buckley Industrial, who specialise in the manufacture, inspection and testing of flexible hose assemblies for industry, who received help from the Welsh Government to build an export model for their business.

Destek Accessible Technology Solutions, in Port Talbot, who work with organisations to improve the accessibility of their products, services, and environments, also received Welsh Government help to identify customers in their key overseas markets.
