YJB annual report and accounts 2014 to 2015 published yesterday

The number of young people entering the criminal justice system and in custody has continued to fall over the last year.

Lin Hinnigan, Chief Executive of the Youth Justice Board, said:

The number of young people entering the criminal justice system and in custody has continued to fall over the last year. This demonstrates the continued success of the Youth Justice Board and its partners.

While those in custody are now fewer in number, they have often committed more previous offences and have more complex needs.

Our challenge now is to work with our partners on resettlement and reducing reoffending amongst this more complex cohort. We will continue to promote the needs of children and young people, and drive down offending even further.”
