techUK announces call for evidence for Government Data Consultation

Have views on how Government could use data for better services? We want to hear from you!

We recently announced that techUK would respond to the Government’s open consultation into the use of data. We are now looking for techUK members’ views to help inform our submission to Government, and this is your opportunity to get your voice heard.

The consultation is broad ranging and our response will focus on the issues of particular relevant for techUK members. These are as follows:

  • Data’s potential for improving public service delivery;
  • Keeping citizens’ data safe;
  • How the new proposals fit in with existing and planned legislation;
  • Bringing the public on board in the scope of the proposed powers.

We are specifically seeking input from members on two specific points that will provide us with the data and evidence base to shape our response:

  1. Proven examples of where the use of data has been transformational to public/customer service – in both the public and private sectors; in the UK and internationally.
  2. Proven examples on the best ways to maintain data security when handling confidential and sensitive information – in both the public and private sectors; in the UK and internationally.

Please provide your input to Conor Murray by COP Friday 1 April.

If you would like to discuss the above or any part of the consultation, please get in touch. If you think there are areas we have missed, let us know.

We look forward to hearing from you!
