New monthly newsletter to provide info on all our big data activities from the last month as well as updates on key policy, regulatory and industry developments.
Big data is no longer an emerging technology; it is now rightfully placed at the heart of many companies business strategies. techUK believe big data and data analytics offer some of the greatest opportunities for innovation in the new digital world. This significance is echoed by Government who identified Big Data as one of the "Eight Great Technologies" essential to achieving the UK's future growth.
Since this announcement the UK Government has directly invested £231 million in big data in the UK. This significant commitment is welcomed by the technology sector which continues to invest in the development of innovative big data technologies and solutions. Companies are increasingly identifying the value of big data, with the global market for technologies and services in this field growing rapidly.
However, techUK believe that in order for the UK to gain the full economic value and social opportunities big data has to offer there are challenges that need to be overcome. These include concerns around data privacy and security, skills and a need to build trust and confidence amongst businesses and citizens so that investment in big data and data analytics can deliver real results.
