2016 Transatlantic Practice Exchange - programme topics confirmed

Applications open next week for the 2016 Transatlantic Practice Exchange.

Homeless Link are looking for 5 future leaders from across the UK to spend two weeks in the US, learning about effective practice and using this to improve the homelessness sector on their return.

With their US partners, the National Alliance to End Homelessness, they have identified six core topics for next year's Exchange. You can also propose a different area of your choosing.

The 2016 topics

  1. Permanent Supportive Housing (Housing First) for women or other populations
  2. LGBT support for young homeless people
  3. Responding to homelessness in rural communities
  4. Shared service delivery philosophies for staff teams
  5. Rapid resettlement from the shelter system
  6. Tenancy support and landlord engagement for permanent supportive housing and rapid re-housing

Homeless Link are looking for applicants with an enthusiasm for innovation and improvement in the homelessness sector, who are keen to translate learning into practice and understand the differences between first-hand experience and desk-based research.

Homeless Link are keen to see applications from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as from England.

What next?

Homeless Link will assess applications in late December. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in January to go forward to the final assessment stage. The final five successful candidates visiting the US between March and May 2016.
