Children's Commissioner for England, Anne Longfield responded to research for BBC School Report on children's mental health

“I've heard so many desperately sad stories from children with serious conditions who are being denied access to mental health support.

"Provision is far too patchy, slow and inconsistent. Children struggling with other illnesses would expect support and immediate treatment and not to have to wait months just to see a specialist.

"We need to see urgent action from schools, the NHS and the Government. Every child coping with mental health issues should have the support they need, as quickly as possible."
