The CBI has responded to the latest ONS labour market statistics for Scotland from October to December 2016, which showed a rise in unemployment of 6,000 and a rise in employment of 8,000.
The Office for National Statistics releases monthly regional, local authority and parliamentary constituency breakdowns of changes in UK employment, unemployment, economic inactivity and other employment-related statistics. A link to the full data release can be found here.
Hugh Aitken, CBI Scotland Director, said:
“Rising unemployment is a concern, which means the Scottish Government needs to focus on supporting businesses to create jobs and economic growth by providing relief from business rates and boosting educational performance.”
