techUK’s Deputy CEO says disruptive innovation is the lifeblood of modern economies and welcomes the Chancellor’s new support package.

Commenting on the Chancellor’s new £220 million support package for breakthrough and disruptive tech in the UK, techUK Deputy CEO, Antony Walker, said:

“Innovation and cutting-edge research are the lifeblood of a successful, modern economy. The UK has an impressive heritage in this area but other countries have become more effective at commercialising their most innovative tech research. This is a promising announcement showing that the Government understands the strategic importance of stimulating novel and disruptive technologies.

The UK’s digital economy has been one of our outstanding success stories and is a vital source of jobs and growth. To remain one of the world’s foremost tech economies, it is vital that the Government continues to invest in policies that foster startups and help them to thrive. This is a step in the right direction and we hope the forthcoming industrial strategy will also focus on unlocking tech innovation.”
