Consultation period for Cuadrilla’s Lancashire sites extended
4 Jul 2014 12:35 PM
The Environment Agency
has extended the consultation for the permit applications for Roseacre Wood and
Preston New Road sites by four weeks.
The Environment Agency believe
the request for additional time is appropriate to allow local interested groups
to respond as these are the first permit applications which include activities
relating to high volume hydraulic fracturing for shale gas.
Steve Molyneux, Environment
Manager for Lancashire, said “Our regulatory controls for onshore oil and
gas are in place to protect people and the environment. We always take the
views of the local community seriously and believe an extension is
appropriate.”
The consultation period for
Cuadrilla’s Preston New Road site will run until 5 August and the
consultation for its Roseacre Wood site until 19 August. We welcome comments
from the public and interested groups on local environmental factors that may
be important.
The application
documents have been placed online for people to view and provide
comments.
