Digital Radio Tick Mark updated to allow European use

The Digital Radio Tick Mark annual review approves changes to the specification to support European adoption 

The Digital Radio Tick Mark specification has been updated to become a European-ready technical specification.

The main changes from the current specification are:

• All band III frequencies will be tested for sensitivity requirements – meaning 38 channels tested instead of 12;
• The DLS requirements have been expanded to include all European Latin based characters; and
• There is now a requirement for radios using a starburst display to map the characters mentioned above in a specified way. Previously it was not specified how starburst displays had to map special characters.​

There will be a 3 month transition period where manufacturers can apply for the tick mark using both the current and the new specification. Following the 3 month period, only the new specification will apply. The 3 month period will start once ETI files are available to carry out testing to the new specification which is expected to be in the very near future.
