The First Minister
welcomed Mr Kaj Leo Holm Johannesen, the Prime Minister of the Government of
the Faroe Islands, to Bute House where they discussed issues of mutual
interest.
They welcomed recent progress on fishing agreements that will deliver a
balanced package of outcomes and looked forward to further work that will allow
our fishing industries and communities to plan ahead with greater
certainty.
They agreed to explore further links around higher education and transport
connectivity.
The Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands expressed his interest in learning more
about Scotland’s staging of the Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup, given
their bid to host the Island Games in 2019, and provided an open invitation to
the First Minister to visit the Faroe Islands in the future.
