First Paralympic GB medals at the Rio Paralympics 2016: PM message

The Prime Minister congratulated Dame Sarah Storey for becoming GB's most successful female Paralympic athlete and to all the other athletes who took medals on the opening day.

Prime Minister Theresa May said:

Many congratulations to Dame Sarah Storey for becoming Great Britain’s most successful female Paralympic athlete with her 12th gold medal and well done to all our other cyclists and swimmers who took medals on a fantastic opening day.

I hope your success inspires many more of our Paralympians to medal glory.

The whole country is very proud of you and we wish you all good luck and great success.
