Genpower is expanding
operations, has moved into the former Cambrian Windows site and is set to
create up to 35 new jobs in the Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone with financial
support from the Welsh Government.
The property investment by
Genpower, backed by a repayable business finance loan from the Welsh
Government, enabled the company to move to the former Cambrian Windows
site in London Road, Pembroke Dock, which closed last year.
The company currently employs 22
people and the expansion will safeguard eight jobs while the new jobs will be
created over the next two years. Genpower has also previously been supported by
funding from Finance Wales
Their new 110,000 sq ft
facility means Genpower can consolidate all its operations on one site,
increasing its warehousing, workshop and assembly capacity and open a new
training facility and showroom.
Genpower has the sole UK
and Ireland distribution rights to sell Hyundai power products such as energy
efficient portable generators, water pumps and air compressors to
it's growing dealer network. The need to move to larger
premises was essential when Genpower was also awarded a similar exclusive
agreement to sell Hyundai garden products and Power tools.
The company also plans to expand
the manufacture and assembly of its own range of innovative products. These
include silent LPG motor home generators and silent diesel welfare generators,
which will be sold through Hyundai’s distributor
network.
Economy Minister Edwina Hart

“I am pleased the Welsh
Government is able to support Genpower’s expansion and create a range of
new jobs in the Enterprise Zone. It’s always good news to hear of
local companies expanding, and that Welsh Government support has enabled the
business to remain and grow in Pembrokeshire, bringing direct and indirect
benefits to the local economy through supply chain
activity.”
Managing Director Roland
Llewellin said:
“Our new premises are
already making a huge difference and we are delighted with the site. It will
allow us to increase capacity and provide the room we need to stock the new
range of Hyundai garden machinery products and expand our assembly and
manufacturing business. Financial support from the Welsh Government was vital
to make this happen and I am confident our new premises will provide space for
future growth as the business expands.”
