An alpha version of CESG guidance on security monitoring and management has been published on GOV.UK. The guidance is for public and private sector organisations and describes the key aspects to consider when designing their approach to security operations and management.

The guidance includes high level messages for CEOs and Boards as well as detailed descriptions of the types of technology systems and devices used in Security Monitoring; aspects of design; policy and processes; the business and security benefits of centrally coordinating Security Operations and choosing a service delivery model.

The guidance is provided ‘as-is’ as an example of how specific requirements could be met. It should be used to help inform risk management decisions but is not intended to be exhaustive or to replace independent, specialist advice.
