An Official Statistics Publication for Scotland.

The release of annual Labour Productivity Statistics for the period 1998-2013 was announced today by Scotland’s Chief Statistician.

This second release of productivity statistics for Scotland includes revised estimates back to 1998, consistent with revisions to Scottish and UK national accounts due to the introduction of the European System of Accounts (ESA10). Key figures in the latest release are:

Labour productivity as measured by output per job increased by 1.2% in real terms (inflation adjusted) during 2013, following growth of 0.4% in 2012. This difference in growth between output per hour and output per job indicates a change in working patterns. In 2013 the average number of hours worked per job increased for the first time since 2007.
