Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust: Monitor launches investigation
2 Jul 2014 03:17 PM
Monitor opened the
investigation after Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust received 2
warning notices from the Care Quality
Commission.
The warning notices refer to
concerns about staffing levels and the operation of systems designed to assess
and monitor the quality of services.
Monitor is concerned that the
issues raised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) might be indicative of wider
problems with how the trust is run.
Monitor will also examine the
trust’s financial position following concerns raised by the trust as part
of the forward planning process.
Liverpool Women’s NHS
Foundation Trust specialises in issues affecting women and children, such as
maternity, neonatal care, gynaecology and genetics.
No decision has been taken about
whether further regulatory action is required and an announcement about the
outcome of the investigation will be made in due course.
Frances Shattock, Regional
Director at Monitor said:
The Care Quality Commission has
sufficient concern with this trust that it issued 2 warning notices. We want to
understand why this happened and if it is symptomatic of wider problems with
how the trust is being run.
We want to help the trust ensure
that local people have access to high quality healthcare.
