A man who died following contact with Wiltshire Police has recently been named.

Terrence Bennett, 44, died at a property in Warminster in the early hours of 27 October. Officers had been called to the property after reports of concern for his welfare and the welfare of others. During police interaction with Mr Bennett, Taser was deployed and he was restrained. A knife was recovered from the scene.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigation will seek to establish the exact nature of contact between Mr Bennett and officers prior to his death. It will also consider relevant force polices and procedures.

A post mortem has taken place, and we await the pathologist’s report. HM Coroner has been informed.

IPCC investigators have met with Mr Bennett’s family, and we will keep them updated with the progress of the independent investigation. They have requested privacy at this time.
