Office of Fair Trading. This new organisation will build on the existing work
of the UK competition authorities to promote competition, within and outside

The CMA is currently
recruiting:
- Principal Case Officers –
Mergers, to contribute to the delivery of high quality analysis, decisions,
reports and policy by providing legal advice to project teams, members of the
Office of the General Counsel and others in connection with the CMA’s
merger, markets and sector regulation work as well as its competition law
enforcement cases. Your focus will be primarily on mergers, covering both Phase
1 and Phase 2 investigations with the opportunity to contribute to a wide range
of projects across the CMA.
- Assistant Directors and Policy
Advisers – Competition and Markets Policy, to provide high quality policy
support across the CMA on competition and markets issues arising in relation to
case and project work and seek to influence the future direction of the UK and
EU legislative framework affecting competition, through external engagement
with government, the European Commission and other public
bodies.
- Assistant Directors and Legal
Advisers, Project Resource Group, to help ensure that decisions taken by the
CMA are legally robust and that case teams are aware of legal and legal policy
risks. Support the CMA General Counsel and colleagues across the organisation
in connection with the CMA’s case and policy work.
- A Litigation Lawyer to
support the CMA General Counsel and Director of Litigation in the efficient
conduct of competition, consumer protection and/or other litigation on behalf
of the CMA.
- A Head of Legal Know-How to
lead a team to set up and develop effective know how sharing systems within the
CMA to provide CMA staff and panel members with up to date know how to assist
them to deliver their objectives.
- Principal Case Officers –
Cartels, to participate in and provide guidance on investigations into cartel
behaviour under the CA98 / Article 101 Treaty on the Functioning of the
European Union including where appropriate director disqualification
proceedings under the Company Directors Disqualification Act
1986.
- Assistant Directors –
Cartel Enforcement. The Cartels and Criminal Group (CCG) investigates
potential cartel activity using both civil and criminal law powers including
where appropriate, issuing decisions and imposing penalties under the
Competition Act 1998 (CA98) and conducting criminal prosecutions under the
Enterprise Act 2002 (EA02).
