A National Statistics Publication for Scotland.

The latest publication of Quarterly National Accounts Scotland statistics was announced today by Scotland’s Chief Statistician. This release includes results up to the first quarter of 2016 (January-March), as well as the first estimates for financial year 2015-16.

Key statistics in the latest release are:

• In financial year 2015-16, annual onshore Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Scotland is estimated to have been £147 billion in total, or £27,400 per person.
• Including a geographical share of UK extra-regio (offshore and overseas) economic activity, total Scottish GDP in 2015-16 is estimated at £157 billion in total, or £29,200 per person.
• Household Final Consumption Expenditure (HHFCE) is estimated to have increased by 2.4% over the year to 2016 Quarter 1 (in current prices, not real terms)
• Gross Disposable Household Income (GDHI) is estimated to have increased by 5.3% over the year to 2016 Quarter 1 (in current prices, not real terms).
• The Household Savings Ratio is estimated to be 4.8 per cent in the latest quarter.

Quarterly National Accounts Scotland (QNAS) provides users with a range of economic statistics for Scotland, including Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the onshore economy measured using output, income and expenditure approaches, estimates of UK extra-regio (offshore) activities attributable to Scotland, household sector income and expenditure accounts, and public sector revenues. Results have been revised and updated to be consistent with the annual Supply & Use Tables for 1998-2013, published by The Scottish Government on 20 July 2016.
