TUC: Unions want to play a full part in Brexit talks

6 Sep 2016 12:43 PM

Responding to David Davis' statement to the Commons yesterday afternoon (Monday), about Britain's future after Brexit, TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady said:

“The TUC’s priority is making sure that working people don’t pay the price of the vote to leave the EU.

“We are glad that the Secretary of State has committed to take time to lead an inclusive national conversation about which model of Brexit is in the best interests of the British people, and hope that trade unions, who represent six million working people, can play a full part.

“However, we regret that the Secretary of State did not take the opportunity to guarantee the right to remain in the UK for those EU citizens who already live and work here, and we will continue to press for the government to act to reassure them.”
