Huge breadth and depth of digital transformational expertise to be shared at Socitm 2013 - the annual gathering for public sector IT

Services in a Digital World: Leading, Innovating, Delivering will run 8-10 December at the Business Design Centre, London Building website take-up and citizen e-engagement to run in parallel on 10 December.

Socitm, the association for IT and digital professionals working in local public services, has assembled an impressive range and depth of digital and transformational expertise to share with delegates at its forthcoming annual conference in London.  Speakers include:

Government Digital Service Executive Director Mike Bracken, who will be drawing on lessons learned from the hugely important and influential programme he is leading to digitize delivery by central government departments and agencies.

Digital change guru Catherine Howe, who will set out the differences between digital leadership and traditional leadership, and the challenges and opportunities that 'digital' presents to leaders across the public and third sectors.

Michael O'Toole, Crown Representative for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector, who will discuss the growing role for VCSE delivery of public services and the role of partnerships, co-creation and new forms of commissioning.

Dave Carter, Head of Manchester City's Digital Development Agency, who will talk about digital strategy and implementation at a city region level, while Glenn Sebright, Head of Media and Internal Communications, a the London Fire Brigade will float the idea of social media as the 5th emergency service.

There will also be a wealth of experience shared through case study sessions.
The conference will close with an address from the Socitm President, Steve Halliday, Head of IT at Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. He will predict more major challenges for public and third sector IT communities in 2014 as a number of key programmes go live, including PSN2 and the Public Identity Assurance launch, alongside further growth in digital services and take up of agile development methods.

Socitm's annual Awards Dinner, showcasing success stories in IT innovation, leadership and delivery across the public and third sectors, will be held on the evening of Monday 9 December.  The evening will be hosted by comedian Dominic Holland.
