The Wireless from Age UK launches on DAB radio

Age UK's fantastic radio station, The Wireless, will be bringing its brilliant mix of music, news and chat to millions of homes across the UK, as it launches on DAB Radio.

From this week, The Wireless from Age UK is available on DAB radio across London and Yorkshire, and even if you don't listen there, you can still listen via the Age UK website.

Radio veterans

Fronted by radio veterans David Hamilton and Graham Dene (pictured above), The Wireless from Age UK plays a mix of music from across the decades, helpful features, topical discussions, documentaries and specialist music shows in the evenings.

One minute you could be listening to a song from The Beatles, the next some top gardening tips from expert Christine Walkden, followed by the latest track from Adele.

The station is also available to listen to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so there's always something to tune into, whatever time of the day you need some entertainment.

'Radio is part of my life'

Speaking about the new launch, David Hamilton said: 'Radio has always been part of my life, from being given my first daily show on BBC Radio One in 1973 to now being involved in The Wireless nearly 40 years later.

'I’m thrilled to be part of this new and important station, and it’s not just for those in later life, there really is something for everyone.'

Another presenter on the radio station is former newsreader and TV presenter Martyn Lewis, who said: 'The Wireless has lured me out of retirement; it’s great to be back broadcasting again and hopefully making a real difference to the lives of people across the UK.'
