Changing Culture, Strengthening Delivery

In the current economic climate, the public sector will have fewer resources to deal with formidable challenges such as climate change and an ageing population. Therefore it is more important than ever that organisations learn from previous experiences – both good and bad – and develop cultures that encourage staff to be innovative.

‘Changing Culture, Strengthening Delivery’ is a one-day event aimed at senior managers, directors and equivalent involved in implementing change and strengthening performance and capability in central and local government organisations. It has been organised jointly by the National School of Government and the National Audit Office.

The Conference – held on April 27th at the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre in London – will build on recent NAO reports and provide the delegates with the opportunity to debate the challenges and barriers they face in implementing change within their organisations, and to propose solutions to strengthen their performance.

At the conference a variety of case studies from across the public sector will be showcased to highlight how departments and agencies can improve their capability to meet their challenging objectives.

Key note speakers include:
• Tim Burr, the Comptroller and Auditor General, Head of the National Audit Office
• Sir Gus O’Donnell, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service
• Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive, RSA
• Clare Tickell, Chief Executive, Action for Children
