Local Government Ombudsman welcomes Select Committee findings

The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) has welcomed today’s report on its work by the Communities and Local Government Select Committee.

Commenting on the report Local Government Ombudsman Dr Jane Martin stated:

“I welcome the Committee’s recognition of the steps we have taken to become more accountable, efficient and transparent. As a result, the public can be confident that they will continue to receive a fair and effective consideration of their complaints about local public services and social care.

“However, in an increasingly complex public sector landscape there is a need to ensure that there is a clear and consistent route to redress for users of all public services in England. The changes we have made place us in a strong position to work with others to deliver a more joined up and accessible public services complaints system.”

In its report the Committee referred to the results of 2012 staff survey. The results of the LGO’s most recent staff survey, carried out at the end of 2013, will be published on the LGO's website on 31 January 2014.
