British Heart Foundation - A nation of ‘sentimental’ hoarders

Over a half of UK adults admit to being a hoarder (51%) with nearly two thirds (59%) claiming this is due to sentimental reasons according to a YouGov survey.

With 43% of people admitting they don’t wear half or more of their wardrobe on a regular basis and over a quarter (28%) confessing they simply ‘can’t be bothered’ or struggle ‘to find the time’ (29%) to have a clear out the BHF is making donating easy this September by launching The Big Donation.

Aiming to bring in 400,000 bags of stock nationwide - the equivalent of £8 million – the nation's biggest stock appeal provides the perfect opportunity to have a clear out; fill up a bag and support your local BHF Shop while saving lives.

With 1 in 4 people (25%) estimating they have over £1,000 worth of items they don’t ever use or wear in their home – you can make difference this September by donating good quality clothing, shoes, accessories, CDs, DVDs, books, toys and bric-a-brac to your local BHF Shop.

And it’s not just clothing. . . If you’re planning on clearing out your home as well as your wardrobe this September why not organise a FREE collection for that good quality sofa you no longer need, or drop by your local BHF Furniture and Electrical Store with those unwanted toasters and kettles.
