Discretionary Housing Payments in Scotland
1 April to 30 November 2013.
Scotland’s Chief Statistician today released statistics on Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) in Scotland.
The bulletin provides information on the number of DHP applications, decisions and awards. It also gives the total value of DHP awards through to 30 November 2013.
The main points from the publication are:
- From 1 April to 30 November 2013:
- Local authorities received a total of 69,062 applications for DHPs.
- Local authorities made determinations on 61,505 DHP applications.
- 5,772 DHP awards were granted, with an average award value of £336.
- The total value of these awards across Scotland was £15,365,860.
- Across Scotland, expenditure is approximately at 94% of what might be expected by the end of November 2013. 12 local authorities have spent the same or more compared to what might be expected and 20 local authorities have spent less.
- Across Scotland, 46% of the cash limit for 2013/14 has so far been spent. As at 30 November 2013, local authorities may spend a further £18,306,231 by 31 March 2014 before reaching the cash limit.
