Health Minister explains opt-out system’s finer details

Wales’ proposed changes to the organ donation system have been explained in a Question and Answer session recorded by the Minister for Health and Social Services Lesley Griffiths.

The video covers all the frequently asked questions about the proposed legislation, such as “What exactly does ‘soft opt-out’ mean”, and ”When will deemed consent not apply”.

The Health Minister, Lesley Griffiths said:

“This is a very emotive subject and I hope this video will help inform and reassure people how the new system will work.

“I believe this legislation will save lives and while Wales has made great strides in increasing the number of people on the Organ Donor Register, I think this country is ready to take the next step.”

There is still time to have your say on the detail of the legislation. The consultation will remain open for responses until Monday September 10.
