Chief Medical Officer sets the wheels in motion on a healthy heart roadshow
The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Jewell has launched the British Heart Foundation Cymru’s Heart Health Roadshow.
The roadshow will visit supermarkets and events across Wales and will offer people a free lifestyle check and help people understand how they can lead a healthier lifestyle and lower their risk of developing heart disease. A cardiac nurse and dieticians will be on hand to offer advice and guidance.
BHF Cymru’s Elaine Tanner said:
“Heart and circulatory disease is Wales’ biggest killer and accounts for a third of all deaths in the country. The Roadshow is the perfect chance for people interested in their health to come along to a really friendly, informal setting, and find out more about how they can improve their lifestyle to lower their risk of developing heart disease in the future."
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Jewell said:
"I welcome this heart health roadshow which will play a part in helping to raise awareness of heart disease in Wales. It will help people understand how they can make small changes to their lifestyle to help protect themselves, such as eating a healthy diet low in fat, cholesterol and salt, doing regular physical activity, only drinking alcohol in moderation and not smoking.
"I'd encourage people to go along to find out more about Wales' biggest killer."
