Youth heritage summit begins

Young people from across the country have come together to explore heritage and identity at the UNESCO Youth Summit 2012.

Various Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site locations are hosting the three-day summit, including the National Maritime Museum and Greenwich Park.

The youth delegates, aged 13 to 17, won the chance to represent Britain’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites following a nationwide competition.

Heritage Minister John Penrose gave the opening address at the summit today and the young people will spend the next few days learning more about heritage and developing new digital skills.

Highlights will include a digital treasure hunt and the opportunity to make a series of films to be shown at sites across London during this summer’s Games.
