Better connected 2012 out 1 March

Better connected 2012 , Socitm Insight's annual report on the quality and performance of all 433 local authority websites in the UK is published on 1 March.

The introduction of new assessment criteria, based on the ease of completing 'top tasks', has led to greater movement in council website rankings than in previous years, says Martin Greenwood, editor of Better connected, now in its 14th edition.

The new methodology, brought in to promote the importance of quick and simple customer journeys for website users, has produced a small increase in the number of four star sites this year.

Better connected 2012 includes:

  • detailed advice, drawing on a wide range of examples from council websites, about good and bad customer journeys associated with the up to nine 'top tasks' for each council reviewed for the report
  • in-depth analysis of the performance of two different application software packages delivering top tasks
  • a comprehensive report on social media usage, activity and practice by councils
  • a foreword from Mike Bracken, Director of the Government Digital Service

Better connected 2012 will be available to Socitm Insight subscribers from 1 March 2012. Non-subscribers will be able to buy a printed version of the full report (available from mid-March) at a cost of £495 (£475 for Socitm members in non-subscribing organisations).  It can be ordered using the Better connected 2012 order form.
