Your chance to vote in the Wales Recycling Awards

Community recycling projects from across the country are celebrating after making the shortlist for the Wales Recycling Awards 2010.

The awards, which are run by Wales’ community recycling network Cylch, show how community recycling and reuse schemes can bring social and economic benefits to the communities which they serve. In the case of several projects on the shortlist this is in the shape of the creation of new jobs.

Environment Minister Jane Davidson, who will present the awards, congratulated the finalists, saying:

“Community recycling projects can make a substantial contribution to our zero waste goals; what is equally impressive is the way they can bring social and economic benefits to the communities they serve.

“I would like to congratulate all the nominees and thank them for the tremendous work they do. I also want to urge householders to do their bit to cut their waste and help their community by thinking before they throw things away and reusing everything they can.”

The awards are run by Wales’ community recycling network Cylch. Voting is open now and will close  Friday 8 October.
