Money Advice service - Millions of Brits hit by unexpected home moving costs
According to our new research, almost three million people who recently moved home were ‘surprised’ by the cost of moving, and over one million of the home-movers admitted they encountered ‘unexpected’ costs for which they hadn’t budgeted.
Our survey, commissioned to launch our new Smart Move campaign, asked over a thousand home-movers about their recent experience and the cost. The majority (68%) of people, who’d recently moved, said it was surprising how home moving costs added up, and 37% of the people who incurred costs said the cost of moving was ‘more’ than they expected.
