Community Empowerment Awards- 10 days left for nominations!

2007 Community Empowerment Awards for Parish and Town Councils

Together with NALC, we're once again offering Parish and Town Councils the opportunity to share the good work they are doing to support their rural communities and win up to £1000!

There's still 10 days to make a nomination for this year's awards.

We're looking for councils that help to engage and empower their local communities through their day to day work in four categories:

  • Young people
  • Older people
  • Housing
  • Gypsies, Travellers & Migrant Workers

The council doesn't have to be running a project itself, nor does the work have to be groundbreaking to be best practice, as long as it works in your community and the actions of the council have helped the project to succeed.

Anyone can nominate a council for the awards - a member of the public, the council themselves or organisations that the council works with.

If you think your council could win one of these awards or know of a council that should be nominated then visit the NALC website  or call 020 7290 0304 and nominate them today. The closing date is 15 June 2007

Last year's winners are currently sharing their experiences with other councils who face similar issues in their communities. Read about their projects in the Regional Winners Booklet and get in touch with the NALC regional co-ordinators (contact details in the booklet) if you would like one of the winners to talk about their project at a meeting or event you are holding.
