Increasing access to the arts in England

The Strategic touring programme is designed to develop audiences for the arts across England, particularly in areas where access to high-quality work is limited. It also aims to help establish new working partnerships between artists, producers, promoters and venues - between those on both the supply and demand sides of touring.

We are investing £45 million of National Lottery funding in the programme over the period 2012-2015. This complements other initiatives we are leading to develop audiences for the arts, including The Space, our digital arts service with the BBC, and our Creative people and places fund.
