BBC and V&A collaborate to showcase crafts in new TV series

Textiles, stained glass and ceramics will be placed under the limelight in a new television series. Handmade In Britain is a collaboration between the BBC and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

To be broadcast on BBC4 this autumn, the series will also investigate the crafts of metalwork and woodwork, as well as ceramics, stained glass and textiles, often seen in stately homes, churches and palaces throughout the UK.

Several hour-long films will accompany the series, which itself will be shown in three groups of three programmes. BBC4's Richard Klein said: 'Handmade In Britain will provide a new perspective and a deeper understanding of the decorative arts.

'Our partnership with the V&A will celebrate these often-overlooked treasures of British culture, giving viewers access to one of the world's finest art and design collections.'
