IPCC investigating GMP contact with Farkhanda Younis

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into the contact Greater Manchester Police (GMP) had with Farkhanda Younis before she was found dead at a house in Bamford Street, Chadderton, on Friday, 19 April.

Accoring to GMP, Farkhanda, 30, was found with multiple stab wounds. The incident was referred to the IPCC by the force as there had been previous contact between them and Farkhanda before her death.

IPCC Commissioner for Greater Manchester James Dipple-Johnstone said: “My sympathies go to Farkhanda’s family at this very difficult time. Our investigation will review the contact she and her family had with the police in the months before her death, to see if their concerns were acted upon properly.”

Jahangir Nazar, 34, of Bamford Street, Chadderton has been charged with murder.
