Silver lining for older people in need across England

Enabling older people to remain in their own homes and to have personal support through cancer treatment are amongst 37 initiatives to benefit from the £6m Big Lottery Fund’s Silver Dreams programme, in association with the Daily Mail.

Nat Sloane, Big Lottery Fund England Chair said: “Last October we set the challenge to organisations in England to develop projects that would value and recognise the positive contribution older people make to society now and into the future, and provide support that meets their needs. There are 37 projects that share £6 million Silver Dreams Lottery funding that reflect the diversity of need amongst our ageing population as well as ambition and enterprise to enable people to live independent lives with dignity and choice.”

Care & Repair England Ltd receives £197,352 to enable hundreds of older people facing home repair and maintenance issues to receive help via a self-support and volunteer network. Older people will help each other with advice, adapting and repairing homes, accessing support and moving home.
