LSN ACQUIRES LEARNING RESOURCES INTERNATIONAL

Acquisition strengthens integrated e-learning capabilities

Education organisation LSN has further reinforced its position as a leading supplier in the learning and skills sector with the acquisition of independent learning and e-solutions provider Learning Resources International (LRI).

With over 14 years’ experience, LRI has established itself as one of the UK’s leading independent providers of integrated e-learning solutions. The acquisition will combine LRI’s expertise with LSN’s 25-year track record of supplying services to the further education sector and beyond.

The alliance will complement LSN’s key strengths in the public sector, but will also significantly strengthen their positioning and activities in the private sector and international arena. In particular, LRI’s strong background in organisational training and learning will enhance LSN’s e-learning and blended learning solutions. LRI is also positioned at the forefront of non-academic blended qualification processes.

In recent weeks, LSN has also acquired FE Associates, a leading supplier of interim managers in the further education sector and Connections (Oxford), a major business leadership and development organisation.

Commenting on the acquisition, John Stone, Chief Executive of LSN said:
“We are delighted that Pete Bennett and LRI have joined LSN, and we share similar values and a vision for making learning work for organisations and their people. The LRI business model is driven by learning and development principles rather than simply by technology. Their reputation and activities in sectors new to LSN will enable us to significantly accelerate the expansion of our activities. We’re also happy to have completed the last in a series of three strategic acquisitions that will enable us to offer a more comprehensive range of services directly to our clients.”

Pete Bennett, Managing Director of LRI, added:
“LRI has spent several years developing and referencing one of the widest ranges of integrated e-learning solutions available outside the US. We’re delighted to have found a partner to really exploit our unique position and range. This exciting opportunity to join the LSN network gives us the potential to build on the solid foundation we have developed in the e-learning and blended learning sphere.”
