Producer Price Inflation, April 2013

Key points

  • In the year to April the output price index for goods produced by UK manufacturers (factory gate prices) rose 1.1%, compared with a rise of 1.9% in the year to March.
  • Between March and April factory gate prices fell 0.1%, compared with a rise of 0.2% between February and March.
  • In the year to April core factory gate prices, excluding the more volatile food, beverages, tobacco & petroleum products, rose 0.8%, down from a rise of 1.3% in the year to March.
  • In the year to April the overall price of materials and fuels bought by UK manufacturers for processing, known as total input prices, fell 0.1%, compared with a rise of 0.8% in the year to March.
  • Between March and April total input prices fell 2.3%, compared with a rise of 0.1% between February and March.
