Nexus event: addressing the Emirati male gender gap in education

In partnership with LSN, Dubai Men’s College is hosting a Nexus networking event this coming May 6.

The event will discuss issues highlighted in a recent report from the Dubai School of Government, which identified the low engagement of Emirati males in education as a major area for concern:

“Low male participation rates in higher education, combined with high dropout rates and poor performance at the secondary level, should give cause for concern in the UAE. The male gender gap in education should be addressed not only in order to improve competiveness but also due to the many resulting social benefits. There is hope for all young UAE men to be productively employed, but this requires substantial attention to policies which will improve the school learning environment while motivating them to pursue higher levels of educational attainment”

The Nexus event will draw together commissioners, investors and supporters around the best innovations in this field and will look at all types of initiatives, showcasing high-potential third sector innovations that seek to achieve at least one of the following objectives:

• Support Emirati male progression into higher education.
• Support Emirati male achievement.
• Support curriculum enrichment to engage Emirati male in learning.
• Support Emirati male role models within education.
