Views sought on Commission's 'TSE Roadmap 2'

The Food Standards Agency, Defra and the Welsh Assembly Government are jointly inviting people to share their views on the European Commission's 'TSE Roadmap 2' and the accompanying Commission staff working document. Although the roadmap contains no specific proposals or timetable for change, it identifies areas where changes could be made to TSE measures in the future.

The responses to this informal consultation will help develop the UK’s policy on TSE control measures and will be used specifically to inform the response to a short questionnaire from the Presidency of the European Council.

Who could be affected by the future policy options in the informal consultation?

The cattle, sheep and goat industries; the meat industry; the animal by-products industry, the animal feed industry and consumers.

Deadline for responses

The closing date for responses to this informal consultation is Wednesday 25 August 2010.

The questionnaire will be completed and sent to the Presidency of the European Council by Wednesday 1 September 2010.

The informal consultation package, which includes hyperlinks to the TSE Roadmap 2 and the accompanying working document, can be found on the Defra website via the link below.
