ENGLISH HERITAGE HOLDS SLINKACHU AMNESTY

English Heritage Holds Slinkachu Amnesty

English Heritage is putting out an appeal for anyone to get in touch who might have taken a miniature artwork away with them as a souvenir after visiting its Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens site in Northumberland – home to the contemporary art exhibition, Extraordinary Measures.

Images of the artwork can be seen around the grounds

Particularly of interest is the ten missing artworks involved in ‘A Great Day Out’, created by street artist Slinkachu and originally on display within the beautiful grounds of Belsay last summer. Large-scale photographs taken by Slinkachu himself can now be seen around the Extraordinary Measures exhibition, running until September 26, showing where the miniature population once lived.

Momentos for a great day out

Lynn Rylance, visitor operations manager for Belsay Hall, said: “Extraordinary Measures is a fantastic contemporary arts exhibition and Slinkachu’s little people proved so popular that the eagle eyed visitors who were lucky enough to spot the original versions around Belsay took them home with them as a memento of a great day out.

“English Heritage is really interested in where these tiny people now live– perhaps one is sitting in your kitchen or maybe one has even travelled through the UK on a car dashboard – and are holding a no-grudge amnesty to find out the interesting places where the tiny, handpainted figures have gone to. English Heritage is however keen to point out that there are no negative consequences in coming forward to say one of the Slinkachu artworks came home with you from Belsay – in fact our own head gardener has one which lives in her office - and you will get to keep it as we just want to hear your stories about where they’ve got to. In fact, anyone who comes forward with a great tale to tell will be rewarded with anonymity and a free trip to Belsay before the Extraordinary Measures exhibition ends on September 26 – as long as you promise not to take any more of our exhibits home!”
