Our latest recession report to the Secretary of State

We've submitted the 3rd of our regular reports to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the rural impacts of the recession. Our briefings help inform his contribution to the National Economic Council, which meets weekly to consider impacts of the recession and recovery measures.

Our 3rd report highlights how rural communities and businesses are continuing to be affected by the economic downturn, and identifies opportunities to provide support, increase lending in rural areas and for the development of task forces to recognise and tackle the cumulative effect of smaller closures and job losses as well as large-scale, urban closures.
