Magical May Day events this bank holiday weekend
More than two million people visit Cadw’s 127 historic sites every year, and with more than 6,000 years of history to explore across Wales, Cadw expects to welcome a significant number of locals and visitors over the bank holiday weekend (5 – 7 May 2012).
Cadw, the Welsh for to keep, is the Welsh Government’s historic environment service. Heritage sites and experiences make a significant contribution to the £4.2 billion worth of tourism spend in Wales annually, with natural attractions, castles and historic sites the top attractions visited by 72% per cent of visitors staying in Wales.*
Culture vultures and history fans can enjoy guided tours around Flint and Laugharne Castles or explore the charming Rug Chapel and tranquil Valle Crucis monastery.
For those who appreciate Welsh art, Giles Gallery of Pontyclun will showcase an exhibition focusing on Cadw monuments at Castell Coch.
Children can join in a magical celebration of the life of Princess Gwenllian, listen to tales of her exciting life and make princess costumes at Kidwelly Castle.
