Japan - Life after Kan
The latest Strategic Comment from the International Institute for Strategic Studies considers ‘Can Yoshihiko Noda - Japan's sixth prime minister in five years - survive longer than any of his recent predecessors?’
Whether Noda can stop the revolving door at the prime minister's office, the Kantei, will depend on how he tackles the biggest reconstruction effort in since the Second World War, in the face of expanding public debt (now more than twice the size of GDP).
